Child Support Office

You know I will never understand the IVD Law. I found out that the sorry ass made a payment last week to try and cover his ass in arrears, but because it added up to more than what my little $200 regimented amount is, I didn't get it. It was devoted to the state for the arrears instead. Now if the people at the office considered this type of information when entering this data into their system, we the unpaid, might get some justice, if even for a brief moment in time. If they had waited a few days to enter that money in, I would have received it.

Here is an irony for you. The people at the child support office in Oak Ridge, Tn contracted with a law firm some 10+ years ago. I have a good friend that works there. She has worked there for over 5 years and is pulling off legal work that most paralegals are doing as well as participating in the courtroom weekly. She makes $8 hourly with no benefits. She does get a certain amount of vacation but no sick leave. Hows that for irony. The very office that is supposed to be spearheading for victims, leaves its own employees in a position that they can never get ahead in life itself. Realistically, what can a mother of 2 do with $8 hourly. I promise you it ain't much. I keep telling her to branch out with her knowledge and experience and seek a job at a law firm. From there she could go to school and really get degree quickly because she has been working in the background for half a decade.

Anderson County does rock in collecting child support and putting deadbeats in jail, but for whatever reason, my situation isn't given the justice it deserves. I get a little at a time but because I get anything at all, Im considered one of the lucky ones. How lucky is it to be at the very border of poverty and to be thrown over by a couple of dollars here an there when an asshole decides its good for him to pay. My child has no aid from the state and in a way I am proud of this, but in a way I want it back. I understand why these women will not go out there and work for a minimum wage job. By the time they paid childcare, gas & expenses they get no check at all and the benefits decrease with every dollar earned. Hell why not sit on the couch and veg out all day. Its far easier than working hard and watching all the mexicans having aid. I know that was foul, foul but true. It just bites. Here in the South, there is no programs that involve getting ahead. There is a Pell Grant if you want to attend school. There is a limited time only child care voucher program in which to qualify you have to be completely destitute and participating in Families First. There is no ample projects out there to better people so that they can work for themselves without feeling completely punished. There is no programs that help a person get a vehicle when they don't have one. There is no gas voucher. There is no jobs available to uneducated people that will allow them to get out of where they are. Whose fault is it, well of course its the path of life one chooses but come on we got to find a way better than this one. Create a support group, create a temp service within the DHS so that people can actually get a job as part of the program and not working against theirselves. Sometimes people only need a good ounce of self-esteem because life has beaten them down and there isn't a place to go for that either. Hopefully I can take these ideas and put them to good use one day.....

Hope Fully....................
